Doug Chandler built a well-earned reputation as one of the most versatile racers of the 1980s and ‘90s. Chandler is one of only four riders in AMA racing history to win the AMA Grand Slam, representing national wins at a mile, half-mile, short track, TT and road race. Chandler went further and won an AMA Supermoto Championship race late in his career. He became a three-time AMA Superbike Champion during the 1990’s and won World Superbike rounds at Brainerd, Minnesota and Sugo, Japan. He was also a leading competitor in the 500cc Grand Prix World Championships (now called MotoGP).
These days – as you can see by this website – Doug busies himself with his new bicycle/motorcycle shop in Salinas, CA. He does small group lessons with motorcycle riders who want to improve their skills and racers who want to improve their times. Doug has 3 children who each compete in some form of racing. His son races motorcycles and bicycles, while his daughters compete in mountain bike racing. Doug is also involved with the Salinas High School Cowboy’s Mountain Bike Team and attends as many of the local CCCX racing events as possible.
Considering all of his experience with bicycles and motorcycles, Doug is the guy to see. Doug Chandler Performance is all about customer service. Doug and his wife Sherry run the shop together making customer satisfaction their top priority. If you are looking for a shop that really takes care of its customers, stop by and check out DCP.
